checking out the Crochet Dude: Favorite Web Personality #20

Platforms:

I first discovered Crochet Dude’s blog at blogspot.com, not realizing that the entries there end on May 31, 2005. A quick google now that I’m writing this post reveals that, more recently, he’s been blogging at blog.thecrochetdude.com. And apparently he has a whole line of Crochet stuff coming out! He also has a website under his real name.

Who He Is:

His real name is Drew Emborsky and he lives in Houston, Texas.

Five Reasons Why I Chose Him:

1. He’s a dude and he crochets (therefore ‘the crochet dude’) and you only have to look at his picture to see that he is completely comfortable with that. Every man should be like that. If my husband was like that I could finally talk him into wearing a fedora (one day…).

2. He’s a special guest at the Alaska Crochet Cruise June 5 - 12, 2010.

3. He doesn’t just crochet, he also creates his own patterns. He has invented something called the ‘drewstring purse’ which is just goofy enough to be cool. I want one.

4. He is inspiring. I’ve only ever been able to crochet one long line of stitches (or whatever they are called) and I’m pretty crafty.

5. He has style. I want all of the stuff  - the crochet vests are super cute, as are the hats. In fact he has a whole book of hats in a how-to book called “in all Caps”. I’m a sucker for puns and he had me at the ‘drewstring’ purse but the titles of his books are awesome (his book of dishcloths is called “all Washed Up”).

  1. Cool blog, and I like the Crochet dude. Awesome. Folowing from MBC. Come see me sometime.

  2. I find it interesting that a guy can crochet. I couldn’t pull it off :).
