What is Twitterless?
Twitterless preys on your twittinsecurities by offering to notify you when someone stops following you, but it actually does a lot more than that. It allows you to filter, sort, and search your followers and followees.
I just went through and culled the list of tweets I’m following (geez, I hope they didn’t have Twitterless!) and I was hesitant about adding more because, even at only 44 following I am finding it difficult to keep up.
My first round of tweet deletes included some big institutions and some fictional characters (for example, I was receiving quotes from Laura Ingalls Wilder: entertaining, but a forgivable choice I think). It also included some tweeters who just tweeted too much for my taste: it was overwhelming. In some cases I opted to subscribe to their blog instead.
My second round included people that I had followed impulsively only to find that we didn’t have as much in common as I thought. For example, I was following them, but they were not following me back! Kidding… kind of…
And, lastly, I deleted a few tweeters whose tweets consisted almost solely of cryptic @replies to other people. It kind of made me feel like I was sitting at the lunch table with the cool kids but had no idea what they were talking about… I’m still figuring Twitter out but so far my theory is that if it’s not going to make sense to anyone else than perhaps it should be a direct message (the cool kids call that a ‘DM’). I’m pretty sure I could change this in my settings, but I think there are useful @replies out there. For example: a fellow tweeter asks a technical question and his friends answer - and I learn something! Yay!
I’m going to sign up for Twitterless right now - if anyone out there has any feedback or alternative Twitter applications that function the same way, please let me know. In the meantime I hope to fret less with Twitterless - I’ll let you know how it goes…
